VALSEQUILLO & TENTENIGUADA

PROTECTED AREA OF THE RAVINE OF THE KESTRELS

The Ravine of The Kestrels is an area that, understood between the municipal limits of Valsequillo and Telde, it embraces from The Boiler of The Marteles hasta the neighborhood of the Lomo Magullo.

The areas stocking and high of the bed of the ravine that are dug so much basaltic over materials as on laundries and on Asleep agglomerates Nublo,sector included inside the Special Reservation of The Marteles. In some places of the ravine cones of the recent cycle are manifested, affected for the Field of Volcanos of Rosiana.

The current vegetation is manifested in an important acebuchal that is one conserved bigger and better delos, with white broom and with a sauceda in its bed that is probably the best in the insular space.

This barranco has the peculiarity of possessing water current during the whole year, from a well, characteristic that affects directly to the vegetation giving their main one nutritious permanently. In the summit area there is heath of substitution of bitter Tabaiba (Euphorbia obtusifolia), yellow Broom (Teline microphylla), and of Escobón (Chamaecitisus proliferus).

Also to be mentioned the repopulation pinegrove with Pinus sp, and diverse species “rupícolas endémicas” like the golden Grenovia, the Orchis patens, etc. As for potential vegetation, corresponds to the forest termophile from the 1000 up to 1500 m.s.n.m., and among the 1500 m. and the pinegrove area would be the MonteVerde, of which the only thing that lasts is already the sauceda mentioned. At the bottom of the ravine, would have a forest of type gallery of sallows.

In the aspect of fauna they highlight the different “aves nidificantes”, species such like trigueros, linaceros, canaries, alpispas, turtledoves, redheaded and small búhos. We can also detect great abundance of bound insects to the permanent flow of water as the Gitinus or Driops alginus, the Heminópterogerroidea, etc
